In the warm shadows of the Miami sunset, hundreds of perfumers gathered to hear the results of the TFS Indian Sandalwood Perfumery Competition. Jennifer Jambon - perfumer for luxury brand Molton Brown - was named the winner during this year's World Perfumery Congress (WPC), for her fragrance Voyage D'Iris.

"Jennifer Jambon's winning fragrance topped a world class selection of contenders by striking a delectable balance of complimentary notes. Capturing the magic of the TFS sandalwood, she exposed it just enough to allow it to peek out and blend with the beautiful orris accord she had developed. This gave an elegance to the creation that became the determining factor for the judges. Congratulations on your exquisitely beautiful fragrance. Well done!" said Chris Diienno, President of the American Society of Perfumers (ASP).

Meabh McCurtin from IFF won the prize for the best submission by a junior perfumer. Her elegant creation used cognac notes to emphasise the inherent warmth of the sandalwood oil.

Perfumers from across the globe smelled the final five fragrances during the WPC opening cocktail function where the winner was announced. The top 16 fragrances were displayed in the exhibition hall throughout the WPC, to wide acclaim.

Message from the judges: "As judges of the TFS Sandalwood Perfumery Competition we want to congratulate all of the participants that took part. Your fragrances truly inspired us all. Thank you for sharing your passion and artistry. To the winners and runners up, your fragrance creations brought the true spirit of perfumery to the highest level. Keep your vision pure"

Congratulations to Jennifer and Meabh, and to the other finalists:

Haruki Kawamura - T.Hasegawa

Gael Montero - Givaudan

Vanessa Lopez - Flavor and Fragrance Specialties
